My Personal Goals Progress Update for June – December 2018
I haven’t updated my 2018 goals progress for quite some time, so it feels appropriate to come back with a post that updates how my goals progressed over the Summer and Winter months. I’m pleased to report that despite my lack of presence on the blog, my goals have progressed and 2018 was as busy as ever!
If you want to check back on my full goals list you can find my detailed list of 2018 Goals here.
I successfully used this public accountability method in 2017 so see no reason to avoid going public with my goals progress in 2018!
Public accountability is a really useful method for staying on track, it’s also great for reviewing what is and isn’t working. Sometimes that will mean that some goals will change or be removed altogether. But the great thing is that these are my goals, so I can change them as often as I like! If you choose to write up or already have some personal goals then doing a regular review and write up is a great way to stay on track!
So here we go… 🙂
The Summary Table
For 2018 I’ve introduced a summary table, so that I and you can see at a glance if I’m on track!
Fun and Travel
Well it was a very busy summer and autumn for travel and we’ve completed our trips to Vienna, York, Spain and New York! Wow!
Vienna was beautiful, so many wonderful palaces, great food and the weather was incredible. It’s a fantastic city that we will visit again when the opportunity arises, although, like most of our travels, it’ll now be a bit further down the list as there will be new places to visit.
York was a little more relaxing as we stayed in a self-catering cabin for a week so could take a more leisurely pace to explore. York city itself is wonderfully historic, with ‘olde worlde’ little streets around the cathedral. The river runs through the city and there is an ancient wall around the city which is a good walk too. We also visited the National Rail Museum and the Yorkshire Air Museum, both of which have interesting displays.
In the surrounding area we also visited the coast taking in Scarborough and Whitby.
Spain wasn’t in the plan at the beginning of the year, but we just really wanted a beach holiday! Luckily we found a gem of a villa at a fantastic price in the Costa del Sol town of Nerja. It really was beautiful and just a perfect spot for some downtime. I have nothing negative to say about the holiday – weather was amazing, food was great, the area is pretty, scenic and easily accessible. We just loved it!
Our final trip of the year was to New York in November. This was our first time to venture out of Europe, and it didn’t disappoint! New York was as full on as we expected. It’s loud and in your face, but in a good way! I loved every second of it (apart from the jet lag which caught up with me a couple of days in!). I’m keen to go back again, but, next time we’ll plan to combine it with a week’s recovery time somewhere relaxing!
So here’s how our travel plans finished for 2018:
~> Munich – Complete!
~> The Cotswolds – Complete!
~> Vienna – Complete!
~> York – Complete!
~> Nerja, Spain – Complete!
~> New York – Complete!
Health
Weight Loss and Fitness
Errr..ummm.. well what to say? Well, things haven’t gone to plan exactly. I think the many breaks we’ve taken this year have taken their toll and I’ve ended up putting weight on rather than losing it 🙁 .
But, I’ve seen the error of my ways, which is that I definitely need accountability when it comes to weight loss, so I’ve rejoined my slimming group and am beginning to make amends for my summer of fun!
I won’t bore you with the numbers (or embarrass myself), but let’s just say it’s a re-start!
Achieve Your Best Life
Increase # of blogs published to six/month
As you know, I didn’t publish anything new on my blog for the second half of the year, and so this really is a BIG fail. However, I’m finally back with my writing, and have published a ‘Making A Comeback” post which talks about why I didn’t write for those months. For completeness I’ve also listed my May and June blog posts here…
1 – My Personal Goals Progress Update for April 2018
2 – How To Choose Your Priorities

Complete Overhaul My Website Including New Theme
I’d chosen and bought the new theme in 2018 but didn’t get around to installing it. However, I have (in the last few days!) installed the new theme which is live 🙂 ! I’m now doing lots of tweaking to make it look even better!
Personal Growth
Read A Minimum of 18 Books
During 2018 I finished reading 8 books, but that doesn’t take account of the books I’ve started but not finished! This is something to be aware of in 2019 and make a more concerted effort with!
Books completed in 2018
The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins (Audible)
The Tobacconist by Robert Seethaler (Fiction)
The Most Powerful Goal Achievement System in the World by Mike Pettigrew (Audible)

Attend (virtually or in person) at least 1 course in support of my goals
At the end of 2018 I started an online course about course creation. I’m expecting this to continue into 2019.
Contribution
To Participate in a Fitness-Related Charity Event

Home Environment
To Re-Decorate & Furnish Two Rooms (Conservatory & Living Room)
The conservatory – COMPLETE! Yay!!
The living room didn’t really get much attention as it felt like there was just so much to do in the garden, so this goal has been rolled on to 2019.
To Re-Vamp My Garden
The garden turned into such a big project 🙁 ! Suffice to say, that it wasn’t really usable for most of 2018, as there was lots and lots of digging, moving, mulching and general preparation work that was needed before the nicer stuff could take place.
We’re now waiting for the arrival of Spring so that we can start getting the more pleasant aspects of gardening done! This is another project rolled on to 2019 for completion.

To Log Meet-Ups and Birthdays Remembered
