My Personal Goals Progress Update for March 2019
As you know, I set, go public on and report my personal goals progress annually. This is an exercise I have been doing since 2015 and as a result I have seen a significant improvement in my achievements and in the areas of my life where I choose to focus. You can click these links to read My 2018 Goals and my monthly progress updates for 2018 if you want to know how things went last year 🙂 (it wasn’t plain sailing!).
As in previous years, I’ve used the Wheel of Life template to get a visual representation of where I am now. This helps me prioritise the areas that need most attention or that I’m most drawn to, as trying to work on things that don’t interest me or serve no real purpose will see my motivation dwindle to nothing very quickly!
For those of you who are familiar with my 2018 goals, then you will see some common ground here. Some goals, although progressed, weren’t completed last year, so I’ve picked them up again for further action in 2019.
I’ve also considered which goals are public and which ones will remain private, so even though you see a list of goals here, I also have a number of other goals that (for now, at least) will remain private.
So here we go… 🙂
The Summary Table
Here’s a summary of progress so far:
Fun and Travel
Our travels have already swung into action for 2019! The first trip of the year was to Venice in Italy in February.
Wow, what an amazing place! It was great getting around on foot or by boat, although we didn’t get to ride in a gondola 🙁 . The city has wonderful architecture and is so unique and different to anything we’ve experienced up until now. It’s definitely somewhere we’ll want to return to.
In March we took a trip to Knaresborough in Yorkshire. I wanted to visit as it has a wonderful rail viaduct that crosses the river into the little town. Even though we’d driven to Knaresborough (a long and painful drive in poor weather!), once we were there, we parked up and went everywhere on foot or by train. This included a trip to Harrogate – just so we could cross the viaduct(!) and a return trip to York, which we had visited last year.
Knaresborough itself is lovely for a short break, with the river walk, a ruined castle, the viaduct and the town itself all worth a visit.
Here are our travel plans for 2019:
~> Venice – Complete!
~> Knaresborough, Yorkshire – Complete!
~> Rome – Booked
~> London & Show – Booked
~> Family holiday to Spain – Booked
~> Stratford Upon Avon – Booked
Health and Fitness
To Weight 9 1/2 stone (133lbs)
Another up and down month on the weight loss front, with lots of frustration and the odd tantrum that nothing was working! In the end, the net loss is a measly 1lb. It’s taken loads of effort and I’m now keeping a detailed diary, not just of food intake, but also activity, mood and medications etc.
I would say the biggest driver for weight loss or gain is mood. Feeling motivated? Great, let’s get to it. Had a bad day? Give me chocolate or wine 🙁 !
But as they say, knowledge is power, so I’m trying to work with this rather than against it.
To Join and Regularly Attend A Yoga Class
I’d given joining the Yoga class a deadline of end of April, mainly because I was struggling to find a class that was local and would fit my schedule. But, as luck would have it, a little bit of scouting around on foot (rather than surfing the net for classes) and I’ve found a class within walking distance that works with my schedule.
I went for the first time last week. So the “join” part of this goal is complete 😉 , now I just need to work on the regular attendance!
