Today I’m taking a little delve into my quotes book and have picked out five quotes which I personally find inspiring. I hope you like them too!
Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else. Les Brown.
How often do we take personal responsibility for what happens to us? Not just in the sense of wanting to be successful, but in the broader sense of looking at our immediate or wider circumstances? If we’re facing a problem, do we look at it and wonder to ourselves what part have I played in this? How could I have contributed to the circumstances that have created this experience that I am now living?
Take some time with this concept, because the more we ponder, absorb and accept its true meaning, the more freedom we will experience.
It’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen. Muhammad Ali.
I wrote about belief in my previous post, here, as this is something that I think is fundamental to our ability to start and then follow through on our goals to ultimate success. Believing in our ability to achieve our goals, and then taking persistent action is key to making our dreams a reality.
Using affirmations to embed our beliefs is a useful technique to help us move forward on our journey and is a technique I’ve often used and continue to use.
If you don’t like how things are, change it! You’re not a tree! Jim Rohn.
I love Jim Rohn’s succinct but very direct words in this quote! Again, the quote harks back to taking responsibility for our lives. Inevitably, if I don’t like how things are, it’s only me who can change it! And change it I can, because I’m not a tree! Love it!
Dig the well before you are thirsty. Zig Ziglar.
I read this quote on Facebook just a few days ago, and it really stuck. Often we meander along through our lives, just hoping that things will turn out well, but, when we run into a problem we are unprepared. This could be simple things like ensuring we keep our roof tiles in tip top condition so that we don’t have rain pouring through the roof when we least expect it, or it could be much worse like not looking after our health until we’ve done some serious damage, to not providing for our financial future.
Whatever the possible event, we have the capacity to make it as we want, if only we will prepare in good time.
Action speaks louder than words but not nearly as often. Mark Twain.
How often do we say we’re going to do something, but then fail to take action? Without action of course, nothing changes, so it’s important to assess whether we’re making a throw away comment or whether it’s really important to us, then, if our words really do embody the things we want to see in our life, we must pledge to ourselves that we will take the appropriate action. Don’t allow yourself the regret of wasted dreams.
So there you have it – five of my favourite quotes. What are your favourites? Why not share in the comments!

I attended a course some years ago and was told that ‘standing still was not an option’. Oh so true, and I often find myself quoting this in suitable situations.
