My Personal Goals Progress Update for April 2019
As you know, I set, go public on and report my personal goals progress annually. This is an exercise I have been doing since 2015 and as a result I have seen a significant improvement in my achievements and in the areas of my life where I choose to focus. You can click these links to read My 2018 Goals and my monthly progress updates for 2018 if you want to know how things went last year 🙂 (it wasn’t plain sailing!).
As in previous years, I’ve used the Wheel of Life template to get a visual representation of where I am now. This helps me prioritise the areas that need most attention or that I’m most drawn to, as trying to work on things that don’t interest me or serve no real purpose will see my motivation dwindle to nothing very quickly!
For those of you who are familiar with my 2018 goals, then you will see some common ground here. Some goals, although progressed, weren’t completed last year, so I’ve picked them up again for further action in 2019.
I’ve also considered which goals are public and which ones will remain private, so even though you see a list of goals here, I also have a number of other goals that (for now, at least) will remain private.
So here we go… 🙂
The Summary Table
Here’s a summary of progress so far:
Fun and Travel
February and March were busy months for travelling, so we took a breather in April and other than a few day trips (the weather’s been great!), we’ve been at home all month. There was a sneaky plan to take in short walking break in Ludlow, a lovely country town on the Welsh / English border, but I was struggling with an injury, so we had to cancel at the last moment, which was a shame.
Our next trip is to Rome and that’s very soon 🙂 ! Can’t wait!
Here are our travel plans for 2019:
~> Venice – Complete!
~> Knaresborough, Yorkshire – Complete!
~> Rome – Booked
~> London & Show – Booked
~> Family holiday to Spain – Booked
~> Stratford Upon Avon – Booked
Health and Fitness
To Weight 9 1/2 stone (133lbs)
Weight loss continues to be a frustrating labour of love! For all my efforts through the month, my weight has only come down 3/4 of a pound!
I guess that’s better than a gain! Total to date is therefore 1 & 3/4 pounds lost.
To Join and Regularly Attend A Yoga Class
I joined a yoga class and attended my first session in March, the plan being to keep with it. That wasn’t to be however, as I hurt my back whilst doing the exercises, although I hadn’t realised it at the time and was out of action for a couple of weeks.
I’m still slightly nervous about returning to class as the injury is still apparent. I’ll need to discuss the exercises with the Yogi when I return so that I don’t put myself out of action again.

To Create and Run 1 or More Workshop(s)
Argh!! This goal was progressing really well..and then hit a major snag! The venue I planned to use for the workshop could no longer accommodate us, so this one is back in the arranging phase. This means more site visits etc before a date can be announced.
It’s frustrating, but just one of those things that test my resolve! It will get done though!!
To Increase Total Follower Numbers Across All Media
Follower numbers at 31st March – 1,397
Follower numbers at 30th April – 1,424
Complete Overhaul of my Website Including New Theme
The tidying up continues (I seem to discover new, useful functionality as I go along), so will keep chipping away at it. But as far as the goal is concerned, this is now complete!
Personal Growth
Create A Vision Board in Support of my Goals
This is now complete! I love vision boards, so this has been a fun task to do!
Read A Minimum of 18 Books
I’ve finished reading or listening to (via Audible) three books so far in 2019, with a few more in progress.
Books completed in 2019
Black Hole Focus by Isaiah Hankel (Audible, re-listen)
Run Fat Bitch Run by Ruth Field (Audible)
Atomic Habits by James Clear
Attend (virtually or in person) at least 1 course in support of my goals
At the end of 2018 I started an online course about course creation and have continued with it into 2019.
Contribution (Environmental)
To Set Aside Part of the Garden and Grow Some Veggies
Not started yet.
Home Environment
To Re-Decorate & Furnish Two Rooms (Conservatory & Living Room)
Not started yet.
To Continue and Complete My Garden Makeover
Work has finally got underway on the garden makeover! It was a warm and dry bank holiday weekend when we roped in some extra help from the family and started taking things out and down and digging trenches for the new drainage.
The garden tends to get water-logged when it’s very wet, so this is an essential first step.
Here’s a picture I took a couple of days after the digging had started, and there are a few more on Facebook.
