My Personal Goals for 2021
I’ve been worrying about setting my personal goals for 2021. There’s no doubt that the events of 2020 and into 2021 have curtailed the things that any of us can do and with that, aspirations have also been clipped.
For any of you that have been following me over the years, you’ll know that my major goal for every year has been travelling and from 2015 to 2019 we have been lucky enough to visit some amazing places and have some awesome family getaways.
But of course, 2020 pretty much put paid to that…and who knows what will happen for the rest of 2021? Even as I write this, there is debate about overseas travel and whether that will be allowed to go ahead for anything other than essential purposes.
But…BUT! I’ve decided to take a stand against the uncertainty and put my plans together anyway. There are some things I can manage and control and a lot of other things that are outside my control, but there’s one thing I know for sure: setting no goals at all leads to lethargy, indolence and boredom.
So despite (or is it in spite of?) our current worldwide limitations, I’m putting my personal goals up on the website and am going to do my very best to progress and achieve them over the coming months!
If you want to check back on my personal goals for earlier years, you can find them here – 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Establishing My Starting Point
In previous years I’ve used the Wheel of Life (<– link to a free pdf you can print off) template to get a visual representation of where I am now. I was a bit lazy this year and instead just scored my life areas out of 10. Even before going through this process I knew it wasn’t going to be pretty! Frustratingly I lost ground in 2020, so I already knew that I’d be starting from a lower base.
But that being said, it’s better to know where you are, what’s important and what needs most attention rather than just jumping in without any sort of plan.
I’ve also considered which goals are public and which ones will remain private, so even though you see a list of goals here, I also have a number of other goals that (for now, at least) will remain private.
So, with that lengthy preamble, let’s get going…!

Feeling Excited!
So what do you think? I’m feeling excited about my new list of goals and they will definitely keep me busy during 2021!
It must be borne in mind that the tragedy of life doesn’t lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goals to reach.

With every passing year it seems that time passes more quickly, so getting this focus on how my year could look is important.
Now, of course the work begins, but that feels like such a positive step with this new direction and structure.
