My Personal Goals Progress Update for January 2018
It’s time for my first goals progress update for 2018. If you want to check back you can find my detailed list of 2018 Goals here.
I successfully used this public accountability method in 2017 so see no reason to avoid going public with my goals progress in 2018!
Public accountability is a really useful method for staying on track, it’s also great for reviewing what is and isn’t working. Sometimes that will mean that some goals will change or be removed altogether. But the great thing is that these are my goals, so I can change them as often as I like! If you choose to write up or already have some personal goals then doing a regular review and write up is a great way to stay on track!
So here we go… 🙂
The Summary Table
For 2018 I’ve introduced a summary table, so that I and you can see at a glance if I’m on track!
Fun and Travel
January has been all about preparation and committing to our travel plans for 2018. Consequently, although we haven’t taken any trips in January, we have booked the following trips:
~> Munich – booked for March
~> The Cotswolds – booked for April
~> Vienna – booked for June
~> York – booked for July
We’ve loosely scheduled Norway for November, but not booked anything yet, and we haven’t made any plans around when to visit The Lake District.
Health
Weight Loss and Fitness
I made steady progress through January and lost 2lbs. This was actually my gain over Christmas, so I’m pretty much back where I started a few weeks ago!
I’m finding this last stretch quite a struggle with minimal weekly losses (I lost a consistent half a pound per week through January). I’ve already made an effort to increase my steps through the month, so I think, as the weather begins to improve, it’s time to get back to consistent aerobic activity.
This time last year I was using the 5K Runner App. to gradually ease back into running and I think it’s worth a shot again as I’m almost a stone lighter now than I was last January, so it might be a little easier 😉 .
Achieve Your Best Life
Increase # of blogs published to six/month
I didn’t achieve this target in January, with (just) 4 blogs posted:
1 – My Personal Goals for 2018 <<– most popular post this month!
2 – How To Put Yourself Out There
3 – How To Make A Decision
4 – How To Enjoy Your Life
5 – 🙁
6 – 🙁
To Set Up A Private Facebook Group for Goal Achievers!
This goal is underway 🙂 .
I have created the closed group on Facebook and am currently working on pre-launch content. Watch this space as I will be opening the group up for all you keen goal achievers soon!
I’m really excited to get this goal up-and-running as I think it’s going to give lots of people a big boost to define and achieve their goals!
To Re-Vamp The Weekly Subscriber Email
I’ve made a few tentative steps to move this goal forward, but it’s very much in the early stages.
Having said that, once decisions on format and content have been made, it should ( 😉 ) be quite quick to complete.
Complete Overhaul My Website Including New Theme
Not progressed, not yet due.
Personal Growth
Create A Vision Board in Support of My Goals
This goal is in progress but has yet to be completed, even though I’d hoped to have finished it by the end of January. I’ll post up a few pictures as soon as it’s done!
Read A Minimum of 18 Books
I’ve just finished reading (listening to on Audible) The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins.
I really enjoyed this book. The premise of The 5 Second Rule is quite simple, but Mel has researched the psychology behind why it works as well as providing lots of real life examples from people who have put it into action.
It’s inspiring and easily actionable. So if procrastination, fear or lethargy are plaguing your progress, I’d recommend you read it!
Attend (virtually or in person) at least 1 course in support of my goals
Not progressed, not yet due.
Contribution
To Participate in a Fitness-Related Charity Event
Not progressed, not yet due.
Home Environment
To Re-Decorate & Furnish Two Rooms
This is underway, with the conservatory being the first room to get some TLC! So far there’s been some stripping away of old paintwork and some new paint has been applied. There’s still a lot to do.
To Re-Vamp My Garden
Not progressed, not yet due.
Relationships
To Log Meet-Ups and Birthdays Remembered
• Meet-ups this month: (1)
• Birthdays remembered (3); missed 🙁 (1)
So, other than one slight delay with the Vision board and a missed birthday ( 🙁 ), everything that should be progressing is moving along nicely. Not bad for my least favourite month of the year! I hope you’re making good progress too, leave a comment and let us all know how you’re doing!

Loved your goals progress update Nicola, isn’t The 5-Second Rule wonderful? I read the book last year and have been using the 5-second rule ever since at work – because of it I’ve actually been able to stay on an even keel with every person I talk to, no matter what kind of call I had before! I’m also working on applying the rule in other areas of my life.
